Overview
Due to the highly specialised nature of this type of care work, and the requirement of specific training, Spectrum does not normally use the services of volunteers in its day-to-day care provision.
However, Deborah Moore (Development Manager) welcomes any offers of help with fundraising from volunteers who would like to organise a charity event, and she can be reached by telephoning 01326 371000. A highly experienced fund raiser, she is more than happy to offer advice and support to anyone considering holding such an event.
She recently completed the Three Bridges Appeal for £100,000 to support the start-up of this specialist school for children with ASDs (see Three Bridges Education Centre for further details of this provision).
'We have had wondeful support from the local community through dozens of fundraising events, and we are so grateful for the generosity of many individuals, clubs, groups and local businesses,' said Deborah. 'We've also been very lucky to have been awarded grants from trusts, notably the Clare Milne Trust who helped us with conversion costs at the Centre, and BTCV for their support with the Centre's garden. So many people have been incredibly kind in helping us to reach our target figure.'
